About Us

The Alberta Pain Clinic was established in 2021 by our primary treating physician Dr. Rory Shott. His interest in pain management stemmed from his direct exposure to patients suffering with opioid dependency throughout his medical training. Many of these patients suffered an injury that resulted in chronic pain. Without adequate therapy, these patients were often prescribed opioids to alleviate their pain symptoms. However, with time, many of these patients would develop tolerance to these medications, thus requiring more frequent doses or stronger opioids to maintain pain relief.

Searching for alternative solutions, he developed a keen interest in minimally-invasive injection techniques through collaboration with many of the top pain management clinics in western Canada. Inspired by the pain relief these alternative treatments offered patients, he established the Alberta Pain Clinic to translate these services to Albertans.

As many people suffering from pain often have a limited ability to tolerate travel, we developed the Alberta Pain Clinic to operate as a physician network to improve coverage where our services are available. All our physicians have specialized training in pain management injection therapies and are certified providers of the Canadian Association of Orthopaedic Medicine (CAOM).

The Alberta Pain Clinic was established in Calgary, Alberta in 2021 by our primary treating physician Dr. Rory Shott. His interest in pain management stemmed from his direct exposure to patients suffering with opioid dependency throughout his medical training. Many of these patients suffered an injury that resulted in chronic pain. Without adequate therapy, these patients were often prescribed opioids to alleviate their pain symptoms. As the body develops a tolerance to these medications, more frequent doses or stronger opioids would be required to attain the same pain relief.

As many people suffering from pain often have a limited ability to tolerate travel, we developed the Alberta Pain Clinic to operate as a physician network to improve coverage throughout the city.
